Synchros and resolvers are transducers, resembling small electric motors, that transmit electrical signals proportional to its shaft angle. Both synchros and resolvers are excited by an AC signal. Synchros output a 3-wire signal.
Resolvers output output a 4-wire signal. A Synchro-to- Digital or Resolver-to-Digital converter is used to convert these signals to a digital output corresponding to the shaft angle and an analog velocity output. CSI offers a product line of RDC's and SDC's with output resolutions ranging from 10 to 16 bits that offer solutions for these applications.
For more than 30 years, Control Sciences, Inc. (CSI) has been developing and manufacturing
synchro/resolver to digital, digital to synchro/resolver, SSCT, SSCDX, synchro/resolver to dc, synchro amplifiers, synchro/resolver instruments, synchro/resolver excitation oscillators and other related
conversion products. It's not surprising that we currently provide a broad and impressive synchro/resolver conversion product line. Our products find use in a wide variety of applications; ranging from airborne to shipboard, navigation to radar, and robotics to oil field exploration. The CSI product line includes a large number of synchro conversion products that directly replace converter products manufactured by Analog Devices, Data Device Corporation, Muirhead, Natel Engineering and others. Visit our Synchro/Resolver Cross Reference Guide for a listing of the products we second source.
CSI has achieved an enviable reputation for making fast on time deliveries of high quality synchro/resolver conversion products with arguably the highest field reliability in the industry. See CSI Product Reliability for actual field reliability data. For the past 30 plus years, CSI has striven to support its product lines and plans to continue that policy.
Currently, CSI synchro/resolver converter products contribute to the success of many aerospace and defense programs, including SPS-48 radar, Trident submarine, MC130E Combat Talons aircraft, F16 flight simulator, Milstars and C-135 cargo aircraft but to name a few. For the past 25 years CSI synchro/resolver converter products have been used in a variety of "industrial" applications, including robotics, motor control, machine tool control and process control systems.
For the past 20 years CSI synchro and resolver (digital and analog) converters have been used in variety of "industrial" applications, including antenna positioning, motor control, machine tool control, robotics and process control systems.
CSI has a regular customer base of more than 200 domestic companies in addition to our international customers. Domestic customers for our synchro/resolver conversion products include the following; Defense Electronic Supply Center, Allied Signal, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, ITT, Sperry Marine, US Navy, US Air Force, US Coast Guard to name but a few.
Our goal is to have an application engineer available at all times to answer any technical questions. We reply to requests for quotations on standard products the same day. If you have questions regarding products on this website, please contact us.
